FAQ'S

FAQ's

How long is the distance learning course available for?
Once you have purchased the online course, you have unlimited, lifetime access.

How will the online tutorials arrive?
I have kept this as simple as possible. There is no need to sign into or create a new account, a link will be emailed into your inbox, giving you access to all the content. You will also be emailed the PDF instructions and template to download as well. It is therefore imperative that the correct email address is supplied at the time of ordering.

Can I complete this project if I am new to embroidery? What level do I need to be?
If you are new to embroidery I would recommend that you don't start with this course. This course is aimed at students with a good to very good general embroidery knowledge and those that have tried a little bit of goldwork and would like to develop their skills further.

What is the Well Embroidered Stitching Support group?
I have set up a stitching support group on Facebook for anyone that has purchased a kit and/or the distance learning course. In this group you can share your work, ask questions and get feedback. I will be on hand to answer any questions you may have as well. This will for the most part replace the online email support I currently offer so all students can benefit from the help and support I provide. If you are not on Facebook then you can continue to email in your questions should you have any.

Who teaches the course?
All tuition is provided by Sara Rickards, owner of Well Embroidered. Sara studied at the Royal School of Needlework, completing the apprenticeship with distinction in 2006. Sara has worked for some of the top names in the fashion industry, such as Ben De Lisi, Jenny Packham, Julien Macdonald and Vera Wang. Sara is a regular tutor at the Royal School of Needlework, teaching on the Certificate and Diploma programme and day classes. Sara has also taught many times in the US and is currently writing a book on fashion embroidery.

What package is right for me?
Of course this depends slightly on your preferred learning method. Are you a visual learner and like to watch demonstrations? Or do you prefer reading instructions and following diagrams?
Kit only – This option would be perfect for those students who are confident in the basic goldwork techniques and would like to develop their skills further.
Distance learning course + PDF instructions – If you have a wide range of goldwork supplies and are looking for a project to create with them then this is the perfect option.
Kit + Distance learning course – This is the perfect option if you have some basic goldwork knowledge and good general embroidery skills but aren't quite confident in your goldwork skills yet.

Do the distance learning videos have subtitles?
Sadly they do not, this is something we will look at introducing for future distance learning courses.

What does Pre-Order mean and when can I expect to receive my kit/distance learning class?
All orders placed will be distributed in phases. The first phase starting two weeks after the pre-order has closed (this will be the 29th May). Those that order just the distance learning course will receive a link to the online classroom and the PDF downloads on or around that date. Orders will be processed in the order they are received. An email will be sent shortly after pre-orders have closed, detailing the estimated despatch time. It is anticipated that this will be between 2-6 weeks. I will do my best to get all orders dispatched as soon as possible so you can start enjoying your kits.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Another beautiful kit, a really lovely present to yourself. The distance learning class is clear and excellent to follow.
Your finished piece looks just like the picture in the kit!

  2. Ann Stalley (verified owner)

A beautiful, challenging goldwork project. From the packaging to the materials supplied together with the superb instruction guide and videos I cannot speak highly enough of this distance learning course. I can highly recommend this course/ kit to anyone with a basic level of experience in goldwork who wants to move into the intermediate skill level. Thank you Sara

  3. Da-young Song (verified owner)

When I received my kit, I felt like somebody’s giving me a present. So tidy and pretty. of course, high quality. Online course, too is really worth every penny if you are not as much as feeling familiar to goldwork technique. Her way of teaching in online course was very kind and easy to understand. And the most thing I love is feedbacks from her through facebook group and email. But, as she noted, this kit is for challengers or who has some experience.

  4. I.Sewell (verified owner)

Beautifully packaged containing comprehensive and quality kit items.
Good value for money. Would suit someone with a little experience of goldwork – although with online support this would also suit beginners.
    Happy to recommend this product.

  5. Charlotte Smyth (verified owner)

I am still working on this but I am enjoying it. The instructions are very clear and detailed. The online support group and feedback back have been really helpful and supportive

  6. Julie Husin (verified owner)

I absolutely love stitching this kit, I am getting close to finishing and I am enjoying it tremendously. Everything about this product and experience is first class. The beautifully packaged and presented kit included top quality materials with plenty of supplies and very clear instructions. Sara also set up a Facebook Stitching support page for members so we are able to ask her any questions we may have and share our progress photos. Sara’s attention to detail is impressive and she responds quickly to any questions. I also chose the instructional video distance learning option available with this kit. The videos are great, clearly showing what is required for each step and how to do it. Lots of close ups of the stitches with Sara also explaining each step in detail. I am able to play them as many times as I need and I really feel like I am sitting in a class room with Sara. A five star experience.
