The design is aimed at students with little to no knowledge of goldwork but it would be beneficial, but not essential if you are familiar with some of the basic embroidery terms and stitches.

FAQ'S

FAQ's

How will the online class be delivered?
The class will be hosted via zoom. A link will be emailed 48 hours before the class enabling you to join. It is helpful if you set up a zoom account before the class is scheduled start so that you are not late to the class. It is therefore imperative that the correct email address is supplied at the time of ordering.

Can I complete this project if I am new to goldwork? What level do I need to be?
Yes, this is absolutley perfect for those of you that have never tried goldwork before and would like to learn a selection of the most fundamental goldwork techniques. It is helpful but not essential if you have some basic embroidery knowledge.

What is the Well Embroidered Stitching Support group?
I have set up a stitching support group on Facebook for anyone that has purchased a kit and/or the distance learning course. In this group you can share your work, ask questions and get feedback. I will be on hand to answer any questions you may have as well. This will for the most part replace the online email support I currently offer so all students can benefit from the help and support I provide. If you are not on Facebook then you can continue to email in your questions should you have any.

Who teaches the class?
All tuition is provided by Sara Rickards, owner of Well Embroidered. Sara studied at the Royal School of Needlework, completing the apprenticeship with distinction in 2006. Sara has worked for some of the top names in the fashion industry, such as Ben De Lisi, Jenny Packham, Julien Macdonald and Vera Wang. Sara is a regular tutor at the Royal School of Needlework, teaching on the Certificate and Diploma programme and day classes. Sara has also taught many times in the US and is currently writing a book on fashion embroidery.

What package is right for me?
Of course this depends slightly on your preferred learning method. Are you a visual learner and like to watch demonstrations? Or do you prefer reading instructions and following diagrams?
If it's the latter then I would suggest you would be fine with the kit only option as detailed instructions with diagrams are included in the kit. This option would also be suitable for those of you that have a basic understanding in goldwork, ie. you are familiar with the metal wires. If you prefer to watch demonstrations then you can't beat the option of joining a live class. This is also more suited to students that aren't really familiar with goldwork and have never tried it before.

How long before the class do I need to book to enable the kit to be delivered in time?
Delivery is a little unpredictable at this current time but I would allow 4 weeks for international order and 1 week if you are UK based.

Beautifully presented kit which made me feel like I had received an early Christmas present. It has put a big smile on my face & made me feel excited to start stitching it. The instructions are well written & look easy to follow, with detailed pictures & words. I am looking forward to having a hand-crafted decoration on my tree this year.
