Embroidery encompasses a wide variety of techniques, there’s Goldwork, Crewelwork, Silk shading, Tambour beading, Appliqué and Canvas to name just a few. Each technique has it’s own design process, order of working and specific skill set.

With such a wide range of options available, a bespoke class can really help you pinpoint where you need guidance and support. Be that with design for a specific project, finding the right materials for your piece or utilising the best stitches to bring your ideas to life. Each step is an important process in achieving the desired results.

Are you a beginner?

If you are new to embroidery, then I have an arsenal of tips and tricks to help you achieve great results even when you are just starting out. From how to thread a needle, to starting and finishing the thread so there are no lumps and bumps on the reverse of the work, I will help you tackle the very basics as we start to develop your embroidery skills together. By following a few simple principles you will achieve great results and will gain great confidence in your stitching abilities.

Or perhaps you have a project in mind and you want help working through the technicalitles of stitch placement, texture and colour so you can be confident in your own personal design?

We can work together through the design process, discuss and choose colours and decide on the best stitch placement to enhance your design. Full step by step stitch tutorials will then give you the confidence to create a beautiful piece of embroidery.

FAQ's

The most frequent questions and answers

You can either travel to my home studio in St.Albans, Hertfordshire, or I can travel to you for an additional charge.

Each class will be tailored to you or your group’s needs. We will discuss beforehand exactly what you would like to learn and achieve so I can prepare for the lesson and make sure I have the appropriate samples, books and materials ready for you. I always ensure that the class environment is relaxed and friendly and I encourage you to ask as many questions as possible and take as many notes and photos as you need. My aim, is always for you to leave the class more confident and excited to continue with your stitching.

If you are working on your own project then please bring the project and any materials you are using. If you have your own equipment then you can bring this as well however I do have everything here for you to borrow should you wish. 

If you are travelling to my home studio then there is room for two students.

Classes are booked in either a 3 hour block (half day) or a 5 hour block (full day). A 3 hour block is £100 and a 5 hour block is £150. A 10% discount is offered if you book a block of five or more lessons. 

Yes of course. A minimum of 3 students are required for group lessons. Maximum numbers are limited depending on the space I will be teaching in, with a maximum of 12 students per class.

Booking a group lesson can save each person 40% from the cost of booking a private, one to one lesson. So if you have a group of friends that all want to learn together this is a great money saving option.

Group lessons for a 3 hour block (half day) cost £60 per person. A 5 hour block (full day) costs £90 per person. 

Yes of course. Virtual classes are offered via Zoom and can be tailored to accommodate different timezone’s. Please make sure you have a good internet connection.
